Kindred Bakery BK Expands Programs to Greenwich House

New York, NY — August 2025 — Kindred Bakery BK, a Flatbush, Brooklyn-based social enterprise, will launch two inclusive baking programs this fall at Greenwich House, a historic West Village community center serving New Yorkers through arts, education, and social services.

This expansion marks Kindred’s first program site outside Brooklyn, allowing the organization to serve dozens more youth and young adults annually, particularly those for whom a Manhattan location is more accessible. Together, Kindred and Greenwich House will create a vibrant hub for programming in what Greenwich House describes as “a model for how organizations can come together to support and empower individuals in our community.”

Programs Offered

Saturday Baking & Pastry Program (Ages 12–24):Weekly two-hour classes covering food safety, baking techniques, and teamwork. Students build confidence with a focus on STEAM skills and social-emotional learning, while preparing professional-quality breads and pastries to share with friends and family.

Artisan Bread & Pastry Fall Series (Young Adults & Emerging Professionals): A 16-session Thursday–Friday course over eight weeks, focused on fermentation science, two-step bakes, and artisan breadmaking. Participants practice mixing, proofing, shaping, and baking breads such as focaccia, challah, and bagels.

Kindred’s approach combines hands-on, project-based learning with social-emotional support, accommodations, and an adapted curriculum designed to be accessible for every ability.
